Kentucky Democratic Party: ICYMI: Special Enrollment Period Now Open on HealthCare.gov

Frankfort, Ky. -- Yesterday, the Biden-Harris administration announced it is re-openingHealthCare.gov through May 15, 2021 to give all Americans the opportunity to sign up for health insurance. Kentuckians are encouraged to use this special enrollment period to explore their coverage options and find a health plan as we continue to battle the global COVID-19 pandemic.

Kentucky Democratic Party Chair Colmon Elridge released the following statement about the announcement:

“For more than a decade, we have seen what providing health coverage does in starting and sustaining positive health outcomes in our Commonwealth. Kentucky was an early and successful adopter of The Affordable Care Act and it has been life-saving for Kentuckians. I want to thank President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris for their leadership during this pandemic and for re-opening enrollment. If you have lost health insurance due to the pandemic or are interested in switching coverage plans, I encourage you to visitHealthCare.gov between now and May 15 to explore your options. For far too long the dignity of access to quality and affordable health care has been a privilege of the few and not a right to all. Healthcare is a human right and everyone in this Commonwealth and nation deserves access. The re-opening of enrollment while we battle this COVID-19 pandemic is essential, it is moral, it is a critical component to how we rebuild.”
