UFCW Local 1473 members are on the frontlines of the COVID-19 pandemic keeping our grocery stores stocked and our meat processed and food produced to keep our food supply strong.

UFCW Local 1473 members have started a petition to implement and enforce CDC and OSHA “Meat and Poultry Processing Workers and Employers Guidance” issued on April 26, 2020.

The CDC and OSHA have issued recommended employer guidance related to COVID-19. These are steps and practices that the CDC and OSHA recommend employers take to keep workers safe during COVID-19. Until Congress passes a new infectious disease standard, these recommendations are only guidance.

Protecting workers during a pandemic should not be optional, voluntary, or up to the employers’ discretion.
