Our entire union family is devastated by the horrific aircraft collision near Washington National Airport Wednesday night. While details are still emerging on this tragedy, our thoughts and deepest condolences are with the loved ones of the pilots, flight attendants and all passengers on board as well as the unions who we know at this early stage lost beloved members, including Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA-CWA), Air Line Pilots Association (ALPA) and United Association of Union Plumbers and Pipefitters (UA). The AFL-CIO expresses our profound gratitude to the heroic Fire Fighters (IAFF) members and all first responders on the scene. We are in close contact with the Transportation Trades Department (TTD) in the aftermath of this heartbreaking tragedy to support our union family.
