Louisville, KY – A new poll released today from Hart Research shows that Gov. Andy Beshear’s lead has grown to 9 points, 51% to 42%. After months of gross and misleading attack ads and millions of dollars spent on Daniel Cameron’s behalf, Gov. Beshear not only has grown his lead but holds a 61% job approval rating – including 32% approval among Republicans.

“After millions of dollars on gross, misleading and sometimes even debunked ads, all Daniel Cameron’s campaign and his four Super PACs have done is make him less popular and triple Beshear’s lead,” said campaign manager Eric Hyers.

Recently completed survey of Kentucky voters shows Governor Beshear expanding his lead

Between August 30 and September 1, 2023, Garin-Hart-Yang conducted a survey among a representative sample of 716 likely Kentucky voters.  The survey, which was conducted on landlines, cell phones, and text-to-web, is fully reflective of a November electorate by age, gender, region, and partisanship, and has an overall margin of error of +3.6%.

The key survey finding is that despite weeks of negative attacks by Daniel Cameron’s campaign and his IE allies on Governor Beshear’s record, the Governor’s popularity and strength has not been affected; and he has significantly INCREASED his lead over Cameron in the trial heat.

Governor Beshear currently leads Daniel Cameron by a 51% to 42% margin, which is an improvement from our late July survey:

In addition to the Governor reaching the important 50% vote threshold, his strength of support is an impressive 86%, which signifies that most Beshear voters are enthusiastic in their support for him.

The Governor’s overall job rating remains strong at 61% approve and 36% disapprove, which includes near-unanimous approval from Democrats (97%) and two-thirds of Independents, but also a significant 32% of Republicans who approve of Beshear’s performance.

Our polling shows the Governor has improved his standing on a number of key traits and attributes.

The Governor’s impressive record of steering Kentucky to strong economic growth and job creation is not only witnessed by his two to one advantage over Cameron on voters’ top concern (and even one-fourth of Republicans say that Beshear is better than Cameron on the economy). In fact, our current survey shows that three in five (61%) Kentucky voters rate their personal economic and financial situation in positive terms of excellent or good, with this economic optimism spanning across socioeconomic factors such as education.
