Record-breaking amount for incumbent governor

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Gov. Andy Beshear’s first campaign filing of the general election will show $15 million into the general election campaign account, a massive haul that is indicative of the energy and momentum behind his reelection. This includes $6 million raised directly to the general election campaign, another $6 million carried over from the primary account and a $3 million transfer from the Kentucky Democratic Party.

“Governor Beshear is one of the most popular governors in the country and has a track record of getting big things done for Kentucky,” said campaign manager Eric Hyers. “This fundraising report will show strong and deep support for his reelection as we head into the final weeks of the race. Our campaign is enjoying a major enthusiasm advantage and this report reflects this.”

During his time in office, Gov. Beshear has removed barriers to health care coverage and relaunched kynect to expand quality care to more Kentuckians, restored voting rights for more than 180,000 Kentuckians, and invested in public schools, high speed internet and clean drinking water. In the last legislative session, he signed into law two of the biggest legislative priorities that he campaigned on in 2019, legalizing both medical cannabis and sports betting in the Commonwealth. The governor has also led Kentucky to historic economic growth with more 46,000 jobs than before the pandemic, and provided strong, steady leadership during some of the most difficult years in Kentucky with COVID and deadly natural disasters.

Given the large number of individual contributions that need to be manually entered into the system and issues with the software that must be used, it is unclear when the report will be publicly available, so we are sharing our topline numbers here.
