Where: Across from the Tri-Starr/Legacy Facility, 1251 Port Road, Jeffersonville, IN 47130
Who: IUE-CWA Local 84807 Tri-Starr Legacy workers, community members, labor leaders, elected officials
On Tuesday, January 14 workers from the Tri-Starr/Legacy facility will come together to demand that Chinese company Haier and Dart Warehouse Corporation do the right thing and stop the firing of over 200 workers at the facility.
Workers were blindsided when they received news last week that they would all be fired come March, when Dart will take over as the subcontracted employer from Haier. This decision to fire workers is being driven by corporate greed – the facility is profitable, and Haier and Dart intend to continue operations, but want to toss the current workers aside, some of whom have over 20 years of service in the plant. All workers will be forced to re-apply for their jobs at a temp agency, with no guarantee of hiring, or wages and job seniority at their current levels.
Join us to demand that Haier and Dart do the right thing and keep this dedicated workforce in their jobs!
