- On Thursday, the AFL-CIO released a memo detailing Elon Musk’s long track record of flagrant and repeated worker abuses. This unelected billionaire—a frequent public face of the Trump administration and the architect of attacks on our civil service—has businesses with more than 50 active workplace health and safety cases opened by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) over the past five years.
- The memo details instances in which a lack of basic safety standards led to workers at Musk’s companies’ factories and warehouses being electrocuted to death, dying from extreme heat exposure, losing appendages, suffering from fractured skulls and more. Musk’s corporations have also faced charges related to not reporting hundreds of other workplace injuries at all, meaning that working conditions at these sites are likely even worse than the data currently shows.
- Elon Musk’s well-documented union-busting and these horrific workplace safety violations paint a clear picture of why it’s so dangerous for his DOGE to have access to sensitive Department of Labor data. The idea of a power-hungry CEO having the keys to the government agency that exists to protect us from being killed in the name of corporate profit should concern every single worker in this country.
- We won’t stop fighting this billionaire takeover of our country. You can join us at the Department of People Who Work for a Living website.
