Days after a group associated with his political ally Senator Rand Paul distributed a misleading ad featuring Governor Andy Beshear’s young daughter, Daniel Cameron has refused to condemn the use of her image or call for it to be removed from the airwaves, despite calls on him to do so, including from Gov. Beshear’s campaign.

In a statement, Gov. Beshear’s campaign condemned the misleading ad and the use of the image of his daughter, stating: “There are lines that shouldn’t be crossed, even in the midst of a tough political campaign, and using your opponent’s young daughter in an attack ad is one such line.”

According to reporting both by the Herald-Leader and The Daily Beast, Protect Freedom PAC, the group tied to Paul, also, “did not respond to requests for comment on the ad” and it remains on the air.

“Down in the polls and getting desperate, we know Daniel Cameron has had a rough start to September but there’s still no excuse for his silence,” said DGA Communications Director Sam Newton. “Every day that goes by that Cameron fails to condemn the ad or demand it be taken down further proves he has no backbone and is wrong for Kentucky.”
