Kentucky State AFL-CIO President

As you know, HB 2, which caps benefits for injured workers at 15 years, passed the House Economic Development and Workforce Investment Committee yesterday.

HB 2 has two readings and will get its third reading on Tuesday, and could be voted on during Tuesday’s session.  Rep. Jill York has filed Floor Amendment 1 to HB 2 – which protects and improves injured worker benefits.

If you recall during last year’s session with HB 296, Rep. York filed Floor Amendment 2, which only failed by five votes.  It is clear that many of the Republican House members do not support HB 2 and it is of utmost importance that we, our members, their families and friends e-mail, call and visit their representatives over this holiday weekend.

The LRC switchboard will be closed Saturday and Sunday but will be open Monday. Please email using the link below that contains a letter you or your members can send to your representative. Also, please make calls on Monday and Tuesday (844-641-3862) and if possible call or visit your representatives over the weekend.

It is extremely urgent that we make as many contacts as we can during this short period.
