Forward Kentucky: Cameron has begun chipping away at our open records laws

On July 9, Attorney General Daniel Cameron issued an open records decision — 20-ORD-095 (erroneously dated June 9) — which confirms that he intends to narrow the public’s rights under the open records law.

He will not do so — yet anyway — by advocating for new exceptions to the law. Instead, he will chip away at 44 plus years of carefully vetted — and in most cases judicially tested — interpretation of those laws by his predecessors and the courts.
