From Forward Kentucky: How unions beat Prop A and won in Missouri

The GOP was running the table on “right to work.”

Between 2012 and last year, Republican-majority legislatures passed RTW laws in Indiana, Michigan, Wisconsin, West Virginia, Kentucky, and Missouri.

But two weeks ago, Show Me State voters derailed the anti-union juggernaut by defeating Prop A, overturning Missouri’s RTW law at the polls by a two-to-one margin.

“It’s a truly historic moment,” said an election night statement from Missouri State AFL-CIO President Mike Lewis. Never had voters anywhere nixed a RTW law.
