From the KDP: ICYMI: Hundreds Attend KDP People’s Town Hall with Former Congressman John Yarmuth

From NAT TURNER, Kentucky Democratic Party
LEXINGTON, Ky – Wednesday, former Congressman John Yarmuth and the Kentucky Democratic Party (KDP) held a People’s Town Hall for voters in Kentucky’s 6th Congressional District. Unlike the district’s Republican Congressman Andy Barr, Yarmuth appeared in person to answer questions on cuts to critical services like Medicaid, veteran health care services and food assistance.
More than a quarter of the 6th Congressional District’s residents get health care through Medicaid and about 10% are enrolled in SNAP. Additionally, most of the district’s school budgets get about a fifth of their funding from the federal government — money that’s also at risk under President Trump’s destructive agenda.
“They’re penalizing all of the people who need support, to give tax cuts to the very wealthy,” former Congressman Yarmuth said at the event. “What we’re seeing now on a daily basis is the most dangerous and overwhelming attack on the fundamental precepts of our society that we have ever seen.”
Every question asked at the town hall came from a resident of the 6th Congressional District.
“Hundreds of people came out hungry for transparency, answers and action,” said KDP Chair Colmon Elridge. “While Democrats are listening to constituents, Kentucky’s Republicans are proudly spreading lies about concerned voters and insulting them on TV.”
