Frankfort, KY – In the final sprint to election day, Kentucky teachers and workers in the labor community joined together to hold Matt Bevin’s feet to the fire for his shameful record of insulting teachers and attacking working families with a press conference in Ashland for the seventh stop on the statewide “Won’t Be Bullied By Bevin” tour. The “Won’t Be Bullied By Bevin” tour has previously visitedHenderson,Pikeville,Bowling Green,Paducah,Lexington, andLouisville.

“Today we are sending a resounding message that we have not forgotten about Matt Bevin’s attacks on working families,” said John Holbrook, Business Manager, UA Local 248 Plumbers & Steamfitters. “Like so many Eastern Kentucky families, my wife and sister are public school teachers, so when Matt Bevin attacks educators, he’s not just attacking them, he’s attacking our friends, families, and neighbors. Working men and women are standing in solidarity to end these attacks once and for all on November 5.”

“Education is a key pillar of the rural economy and Matt Bevin’s attacks on teachers show time and again that he just doesn’t respect working people,” said Rob Collins, a public school teacher. “Eastern Kentuckians know that protecting teachers’ pensions and strengthening public education is on the ballot, and that’s why we’re supporting Andy Beshear and Jacqueline Coleman.”
