KDP Statement on New hKentucky Laws Taking Effect June 27

FRANKFORT, Ky. – Today, Kentucky Democratic Party (KDP) Chair Colmon Elridge released the following statement on the good, bad and ugly of new laws taking effect today in Kentucky, including Democrat-backed legislation to protect children and Republican bills that make all Kentuckians less safe:
“Today, thanks to the Republican Party of Kentucky, men and women across our Commonwealth will go to work with fewer safety protections than they had yesterday. Our colleges and universities, at the risk of losing critical funding, will think twice before admitting single mothers, veterans and seniors. And, every citizen who goes to Frankfort to exercise their constitutional right to dissent could, on the whim of the GOP, be arrested for simply making their voice heard. Democrats fought these bills every step of the way, instead championing legislation that will help some of the most vulnerable Kentuckians, including laws that will help prevent the abuse and exploitation of our children, starting today."
