In case you missed it, the White House released its budget proposal this week, including billions in cuts to Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid -- not to mention other programs like food stamps and pell grants that help low-income Kentuckians -- breaking several promises President Donald Trump has made to Kentuckians.

The cuts are being made to help extend unpopular tax cuts for the wealthy and multi-million dollar corporations, according to the U.S. House of Representatives budget committee.

Despite Trump’s budget unveiling on Monday, Kentucky’s two senators and all five GOP congressmen have been silent on whether they blindly support Trump’s billions in cuts to these important programs or whether they side with Kentuckians who rely on these vital services.

“Rather than side-stepping questions about the budget process, U.S. Sen. Mitch McConnell and Congressman Andy Barr, specifically, need to address whether they support billions in cuts to Social Security, Medicaid and Medicare that would have dire consequences for Kentuckians in order to extend tax cuts for their wealthy donors,” Marisa McNee, spokeswoman for the Kentucky Democratic Party, said.
