Louisville, Ky. — Today, Kentuckians for Public Education released a new 30-second TV ad in opposition to Amendment 2. The ad, titled Math, features a Kentucky public school teacher and Governor Andy Beshear describing the harmful impact Amendment 2 would have if passed.

Amendment 2 is a matter of simple subtraction: it would allow politicians to take money out of our public schools and give it to unaccountable private schools, meaning less money to give teachers much-deserved raises, reduce class sizes, and fully fund public education. Ninety percent of Kentucky kids attend our public schools. We should be investing in public education, not diverting taxpayer dollars to private schools—with no accountability.

“I urge all Kentuckians to join me in voting no on Amendment 2. If it passes, Frankfort politicians will be able to take much-needed tax dollars from our public schools—especially in rural parts of the Commonwealth—and send them to private schools who pick and choose their students,” said Governor Beshear. “Every kid deserves a world-class education. Amendment 2 would make it harder for Kentucky to provide one.”
