Governor Andy Beshear joined Democratic governors to sound the alarm on Trump's Medicaid cuts, calling them "an attack on rural America" that would devastate Kentucky communities.
With 1.4 million Kentuckians relying on Medicaid, including 4 out of 9 Kentucky children, Governor Beshear exposed how GOP cuts would harm the families who need health care most.
He didn't hold back on the economic destruction: Rural hospitals are the second largest employer in our communities, and Trump's cuts would shut them down, leaving thousands unemployed across rural Kentucky.
He called out the real agenda behind these cuts: "These Republican representatives and senators are saying they don't believe that the people of rural America deserve the same access to health care as those in urban America."
Rep. Brett Guthrie, who chairs the House Energy and Commerce Committee, is leading the charge to cut $880 billion in spending over 10 years under a budget resolution previously passed by the House. While House Republicans plot $880 billion in cuts and Trump backs cruel work requirements that could strip 5.2 million Americans of coverage, Governor Beshear stands firm for Kentucky families.
Governor Beshear spoke directly to parents' fears: "Medicaid covers the people that we love the most in this world, our parents and our kids." Half of Kentucky's special needs children depend on this lifeline.
As Kentucky Republicans push harmful cuts to lifesaving programs, Governor Beshear proves why he's a national Democratic leader, fighting for rural health care when Trump and the KY GOP turn their backs on our communities.
