From the Kentucky Democratic Party: ICYMI: Comer says Brady is shady

Frankfort, KY —Co-hosting “Hey Kentucky!” on Monday, Republican Congressman James Comer unloaded on Governor Matt Bevin and a host of other issues. Among the topics discussed were Braidy Industries, Governor Bevin’s re-election, and Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez visiting Kentucky.

Comer on Braidy:

“I have a lot of questions about Braidy Industries. I wouldn’t invest my own money in Braidy Industries. I don’t like the fact that Governor Bevin essentially got the legislature to give him a blank check that he gave to Braidy Industries to help capitalize the company. That’s something Bernie Sanders wouldn’t even do, use tax dollars for a private investment. If it was a private investment in Amazon that’s one thing. This is a private investment in a start-up, a start-up that has a long way to go. [The Russian investment] is just another bad headline for Braidy, I hope something good happens in Greenup County, I hope we can get some jobs there. But it’s not looking real good for this business.”

“I would have not taken the Russian money if I was a start-up.”

Comer on Bevin re-elect:

“I think the governor has a rough road to being re-elected [….] I think if the election were today he would lose. He has no form of a campaign out there. I haven’t seen the first sign or bumper stick out there. I’ve been to eight Lincoln Day Dinners in my district this year. His name has never been mentioned one time. His name isn’t in the programs. The only person who mentions his name is his running mate, Alvarado, I’ve never seen that happen.”

“He won’t go down in history as being the greatest governor in history.”

Comer on Ocasio-Cortez:

"I don't see any upside to bringing Ocasio-Cortez in [...] I think she's very intelligent...I think a lot of Republicans are making a mistake picking on her [...] Ocasio-Cortez has a movement of millennials that follow her [...] Ocasio-Cortez is a lot more prepared when she comes to committee meetings, for example.”

“She is smart, and I think we need to be very prepared when we debate her on issues that we're having a hard time with.”

Comer’s comments come after Bevin spent the weekend getting booed, having an altercation with a State Representative who is challenging him in a primary and a week where he battled with legislative leaders.
