Expression of sympathy may be made to Breast Cancer Awareness, American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 2167, Lexington, KY  40588.

The Wiggins family is a union family. Martha, who died Tuesday morning at age 88, was active in AIM-UNITE! Chapter 22, a retiree group. A member of the Alliance for Retired Americans, too, she helped prepare Chapter 22's much anticipated dinners which were held at the Western Kentucky AFL-CIO Area Council hall. Well known for her cooking prowess, Martha especially delighted council members when she supplied bourbon balls as special holiday treats.

She also volunteered to help put on the city's annual Labor Day picnic. Martha was aided in both endeavors by her late husband George Wiggins, a longtime Paducah firefighter and member IAFF Local 168. He is pictured on the city floodwall mural that shows a Labor Day parade.

Martha and George jointly received the W.C. Young Award, the highest honor the Western Kentucky AFL-CIO bestows. Jeff, a former council president, also received the Young award.
