Employees of Heine Brothers' Coffee, a Louisville-based chain with more than a dozen locations around the region, voted in favor of unionizing Thursday evening about five months after baristas and other store workers announced their plans, a statement from the organization said.

The vote took place throughout the day Thursday, and the decision was announced late that night. Baristas at 15 of the city's 18 locations were a part of the unioninzing effort when it was first announced in April, officials behind the effort said then, but employees from all 17 shops voted in favor of unionization Thursday, a release from the union said. (One shop closed between April and September.)
