Soon-to-be Minority Leader Mitch McConnell stood in the well of the United States Senate on Wednesday and stood up for the rule of law when he called on members of Congress to end the silliness and certify the results of the 2020 election that saw former Vice President Joe Biden beat Donald Trump.
Well, lah-di-dah.
He finally showed a modicum of leadership in an era in which the country has been bereft of it — at least from the Republican Party which has stood by for four years and watched as Trump has played to his collection of kooks, white supremacists and conspiracy theorists as he laid waste to America’s traditions, its reputation and its soul.
