Louisville Courier-Journal op-ed: Opinion: I'm a pro-life Republican who couldn't vote for Bevin because of Trump

I live in the East End of Louisville. I am a registered Republican. I am an evangelical Christian, pro-life, for traditional marriage and as conservative as you can get. I have boasted to my friends for years that I have never voted for a Democrat.

I had planned to vote for Matt Bevin in our governor's race Nov. 5. I like most everything Gov. Bevin stands for; we even have mutual friends who I respect, and most everyone I know surely voted for him. But I could not vote for Bevin.

I could not vote for Bevin because in recent months I saw him align himself closer and closer to Donald J. Trump. That alone changed my mind. I cannot stand with a candidate, even one who I largely agree with, who will lower themselves to Trump's level.
