Louisville Courier-Journal op-ed: We can save health care for Kentuckians if we get rid of Mitch McConnell

In the last few days, the economic and health crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic turned into a political and governance crisis that threatens the stability of our country. Our president is sick, at least five of his top advisors are, too, along with at least three senators. 

As we try to understand what got us here, on the brink of a constitutional crisis, vulnerable to our enemies and without any plan to address this disease that has killed more than 209,000 Americans and left millions without jobs, we have to reckon with Sen. Mitch McConnell’s central role in ushering us toward disaster. His almost single-minded focus on taking away Kentuckians’ health care has left our country more vulnerable than it has been in decades.
