As U.S. Rep. James Comer grilled former Trump attorney Michael Cohen during his testimony Wednesday before a House committee, many people scoured the internet to find out more about the Kentucky congressman.

If not for 83 votes, he might not be a member of Congress. Instead, he might be the Bluegrass State's governor.

Comer, a Republican, lost a gubernatorial primary by that margin to eventual Kentucky Gov. Matt Bevin in 2015 after a former girlfriend told the Courier Journal in a letter that he had been physically and mentally abusive to her during their two-year relationship.
