_______________
The National Day of Action, under the theme “People over Profit “seeks to turn growing national outrage into organized protest by calling for:
• Recognition of healthcare as a human right
• The elimination of private health insurance and for-profit care delivery models
• Legislation to establish a National Single Payer program that ensures comprehensive coverage for all
• A transformation of care delivery, freeing caregivers from corporate control to focus on patient well-being
Organizers say this marks a pivotal moment in healthcare activism.
This year’s protest comes amid legislative moves to cut Medicaid and ACA supports—policies that analysts warn could result in the deaths of tens of thousands of Americans. In response, organizers are pushing for a Medicare for All-style solution that would eliminate:
• Medical debt
• Denials of care
• Financial barriers like copays and deductibles
• Privatization schemes such as Medicare Advantage overpayments
Organizers stress that now is the time to move healthcare from a profit-centered industry to a people-centered system, ensuring equity, access, and dignity for all.
