McGrath campaign: New Polling Shows McGrath and McConnell Neck in Neck, Americans Dissatisfied With Direction of the Country

LEXINGTON, Ky. - An independent poll released today by Quinnipiac University showed that Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is in a neck-and-neck race with retired Marine Lt. Col. Amy McGrath.
The 36-year Washington insider only holds a slight lead over McGrath, 49%-44%, with a 3.3% margin of error and 5% undecided. McGrath leads with independents 46%-40%.
“This confirms what our own polling has shown for the past year,” said Mark Nickolas, campaign manager for McGrath. “Sen. McConnell is in a fight for his political life against an opponent who will outraise him while his own caucus is growing unhappy with his lack of leadership over the pandemic. Let’s be clear, Mitch McConnell isn’t just another D.C insider. He is the architect of everything wrong with Washington.”
In fact, new polling shows that Americans broadly are unhappy with the status quo and are ready for new leadership in Washington. Gallup polling from July found that only 13% of Americans are satisfied with how things are going in the United States, while 86% are dissatisfied.
“People are fed up with the astounding lack of leadership in Washington during this unprecedented and painful time in our country, and they are clearly ready for a change,” McGrath said. “People are getting sick and dying and our economy is in shambles while entrenched Washington politicians seem to care more about playing partisan games than helping this country get back on track.”
