Frankfort, KY A new poll shows Kentuckians overwhelmingly support Gov. Andy Beshear’s handling of the coronavirus pandemic, including the mask requirement.

The poll, conducted July 7-10 by Garin-Hart-Yang research (see polling memo), shows 69 percent of Kentuckians support Gov. Beshear’s handling of the pandemic. The governor has support with every single major demographic, including 77 percent of independents.

Additionally, 73 percent of Kentuckians support Gov. Beshear’s recent order on requiring masks in indoor settings and some outdoor mass gatherings. That includes 66 percent of independents and 58 percent of Republicans.

In a statement, Kentucky Democratic Party chair Ben Self applauded Gov. Beshear’s actions in keeping Kentuckians safe.

“Governor Beshear has been willing to make the hard decisions necessary to keep Kentuckians safe during this pandemic,” said Kentucky Democratic Party Chair Ben Self. “ It has been clear since day one that Governor Beshear was committed to putting public health above politics. These poll numbers are a reflection of that reality: Kentuckians overwhelmingly trust Governor Beshear to make the right decisions to keep them safe. ”
