Pugh says Eastern Kentucky voters will make the right decision between an independent-minded leader and a Matt Bevin puppet

PIKEVILLE, KY — Darrell Pugh issued a stinging rebuke to his opponent with a new ad up on WYMT and cable today. As Republican Phillip Wheeler continues to fail to retract his absurd claims that Darrell Pugh is some sort of Washington, DC liberal, Pugh is calling out his opponent.

Pugh's latest spot, out today on YMT and cable, draws a contrast between the independent-minded Mountain Democrat and Matt Bevin's puppet Phillip Wheeler. (Wheeler ran in 2016 in support of Bevin, and has contributed to Bevin financially, but has since taken down his 2016 ad videos and now claims to support teachers and workers.)

"I'm proud of what I stand for -- I'm my own man. Calling me a Nancy Pelsoi Democrat is ridiculous," Pugh says, shown with workers at a coal mine. He continues: "It's your vote: a conservative, Pro-Life Mountain Democrat, or a Matt Bevin puppet who thinks he can fool us."

The spot can be viewed online here: https://youtu.be/3RHeacLZnVc.

Darrell Pugh is the Democratic nominee to succeed Ray Jones in representing Kentucky State Senate District 31 in Frankfort. He is running against Republican Phillip Wheeler. The special election will be held on Tuesday, March 5.
