Former Taylor County Judge-Executive Eddie Rogers is one of three Democrats running in special legislative elections who received unanimous endorsements from the Kentucky State AFL-CIO COPE Committee.

The balloting is set for Nov. 2.

"The endorsement from the AFL-CIO means so much to me," he said. "As a union member myself, union values are of great importance to me. I am grateful to have the support of my union colleagues in my campaign for House of Representatives from the 51st district of Kentucky."

Rogers is a member of Teamsters Local 89.

He will square off against Republican Michael Pollock and Republican-turned-independent Timothy Gordon Shafer for the right to fill the unexpired term of the late Rep. John “Bam” Carney.

The district includes Taylor and adjoining Adair counties.

The two other endorsed candidates are:

SD 22 – Helen Bukulmez (D) – Fayette (part), Jessamine, Garrard, Mercer and Washington Counties

HD 89 – Mae Suramek (D) – Madison (part), Jackson and Laurel (part) Counties
