Thousands of Culinary Union members are still without a contract following yet another round of bargaining sessions with major resort companies. In the last week, the Culinary Union met with MGM Resorts International, Caesars Entertainment and Wynn Resorts. Despite those meetings and months of back and forth there is still no contract.

Laying out a tentative contract agreement to end a six-week wave of walkouts at Ford Motor, the United Automobile Workers president made an unusual pitch to other labor unions. “We invite unions around the country to align your contract expirations with our own,” the U.A.W. leader, Shawn Fain, said Sunday night. “If we’re going to truly take on the billionaire class and rebuild the economy so that it starts to work for the benefit of the many and not the few,” Mr. Fain added, “then it’s important that we not only strike, but that we strike together.”

Things are looking a little less scary for Hollywood this Halloween night. On the 110th day of the 2023 actors strike, SAG-AFTRA and the Hollywood studios wrapped their latest negotiations session for the holiday as a deal appears to be within reach. The two sides broke off in the afternoon after a day that was spent dealing with AI issues and are set to return to the bargaining table on Wednesday. While expressing that talks are headed in the right direction, one studio-side source says it could take a few days to work through remaining issues.
Providence Everett nurses approve strike as labor contract expires

Nurses at a Snohomish County hospital are planning to strike if a new labor contract is not reached. The current contract expired on Oct. 31, and there is still no labor agreement. The union that represents Providence Everett nurses, UFCW 3000, said bargaining negotiations will resume Friday. 97% of nurses voted to strike down the latest contract offer from Providence Regional Medical Center Everett (PRMCE). The union said 83% of nurses took part in the vote.
SAG-AFTRA to Meet Studios Again Wednesday After Another ‘Productive’ Day of Talks

SAG-AFTRA is set to meet again on Wednesday with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers after a “productive” day of talks on Tuesday. The sides continue to project “cautious optimism” about resolving the strike, which is now on Day 110. The studios have warned that they must get a deal this week in order to be able to produce partial seasons of scripted network TV series.
Las Vegas Grand Prix, Culinary Union reach deal to let workers explore unionizing

Labor leaders and the Las Vegas Grand Prix have reached an agreement that will let workers for the Formula One race explore unionizing. The Culinary Union, the Grand Prix and Liberty Media Corporation announced Tuesday that they have entered into a chard check neutrality agreement. That means pit building workers will have the ability to decide if they want to unionize.
