“This election is a fundamental choice between the Vice President, a principled, tough fighter who’ll work to create opportunity for all of us, and Donald Trump, an unhinged serial union buster who betrays working people," AFL-CIO President Liz Shuler said after last month's presidential debate.

With election day almost upon us, Shuler's statement is still true, more than ever.

Shuler added that the debate, which Harris won, hands-down, showed the country "exactly why we need Kamala Harris in the White House. She’s laser-focused on moving this country forward with working people driving our nation’s success. In stark contrast, Donald Trump offered more of the same tired lies, personal attacks and empty promises he’s spewed on the campaign trail for months and in the White House for years."

I taught history for 24 years in a community college. Just about any history teacher will tell you that comparing and contrasting individuals in history can be a most effective teaching tool.

Last February, a survey of 154 scholars--Republicans, Democrats, independents, liberals, conservatives and moderates--ranked Trump the worst-ever president, by far. He is demonstrably the most anti-union president since Harding, Coolidge and Hoover, the union-despising GOP trio whose Only Rich Lives Matter policies brought us the Great Depression.

But most importantly, vote like your job, your union and, yes, our democracy, depend on it because they do.
