United Steelworkers (USW) members from USW Local 550 in Paducah, Ky., raised $1,300 for the COPE Food Pantry in Massac County, Ill., as part of the Department of Energy’s (DOE) Feds Feed Families initiative.

In total, the EM Paducah site raised funds to purchase 130,000 pounds of nutritious food for 10 local nonprofits that provide families in need.

USW Local 550 President Gary Wilson said the local’s Women of Steel group brought in $500 at auction for a Rosie the Riveter cake, and the local brought in an additional $350 for a cake with the USW logo.

“This is an important event put on by the DOE each year, and we’re proud to take part in it,” said Wilson.
