The labor movement continues to lead the response to the COVID-19 pandemic and to fight for economic opportunity and social justice for America’s workers. You can look at your inbox for this Daily Brief from the AFL-CIO.

Statement from AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka

President Trump said his administration was “in the process” of developing a strategy for COVID-19 earlier this week. After more than four months, with more than 144,000 dead and an economic catastrophe that rivals the Great Depression, the president still has no strategy. The coronavirus will be with us well into next year, but Trump’s disastrous reign in power cannot.

Meanwhile, on Capitol Hill, Mitch McConnell is scrambling. He and his allies are fighting with the White House about what to do now. But just a few months ago, McConnell told us to pause. He wanted to see if we really needed another coronavirus relief bill. Now the Senate majority leader is changing his tune and saying America “needs another shot of adrenaline.” The HEROES Act is that antidote—and it’s been on McConnell’s desk for 70 days. We can’t wait any longer.
