On the campaign trail, president-elect Donald Trump promised to "save" Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security without slashing benefits.

I can think of at least 30,573 reasons (the number of false or misleading statements he made when he was president, according to The Washington Post) to question the truthfulness of that promise. But judge for yourself:

Newsweek:  Social Security Cuts Needed, GOP Rep. Says: 'Have to Have the Stomach'

Common Dreams:  Watchdogs Say World's Richest Man Elon Musk Has 'Declared War on Social Security'

Social Security Works:  Republican Elon Musk Just Declared War on Social Security

Atlanta Journal-Constitution:  Jamie Dupree: Georgia Republican eyes ‘third rail’ of American politics

MSNBC:  With the election over, Republicans are suddenly interested in cutting Social Security

The Hill:  House Republican: ‘Hard decisions’ needed on Social Security, Medicaid, Medicare

Go ahead, call me full of baloney. But I wouldn't be surprised if by the Ides of March, a pandemic of buyer's remorse will be sweeping the country and "Don't Blame Me, I voted for Kamala Harris" yard signs will be sprouting like crocuses.

When President Richard Nixon resigned over the Watergate scandal 50 years ago, his approval rating was 24 percent. Don't be surprised if Don the Con's numbers in '25 will rival Tricky Dick's from '74.
