The deadly coronavirus pandemic has forced our state, our country and our world into frightening and unsettling times. No one knows how this global health crisis will last.

In Kentucky, too, many factories, businesses and construction jobsites have closed or sharply cut back on staffing. Others are likely to follow, throwing many more of our fellow citizens out of work.

We understand the frustration, confusion and uncertainty of filing for the unemployment insurance claims to which our jobless fellow Kentuckians are entitled.

We hope this step-by-step, timeline graphic is helpful. More information is available by clicking here: https://ky.aflcio.org/unemployment-insurance-information.

Our website and Facebook page are here to help you now and in these difficult days ahead with information we hope you will find useful. Whether you are ill with the virus or well, still working or now jobless or soon to be without work, we are all in this together.

"United We Stand, Divided We Fall" is our famous state motto. Those words also ring true for the labor movement, indeed for all working men and women.

In solidarity,

Kentucky State AFL-CIO
