Kentucky might be going into business with the Russian mafia.

Not the rough-and-tumble “Godfather” crowd with the bent noses and such names like Tessio, Barzini and Luca Brasi.

If all goes according to plan, by the middle of the year, we’ll be in business with Oleg Deripaska, a buddy of Vladimir Putin.

Bevin on teachers: “you just need to knock them out and drag them to shore”

LEXINGTON — The Democrats vying to take on Republican incumbent Matt Bevin kept things mostly civil on Wednesday during the first televised debate in the Kentucky primary election.

The buildup to the first televised debate between the three major Democratic candidates vying to take on Kentucky Gov. Matt Bevin suggested there might be fireworks. It was more like sparklers.

The three candidates — House Minority Floor Leader Rocky Adkins, Attorney General Andy Beshear and former State Auditor Adam Edelen — launched only minor jabs from the stage of Carrick Theater at Transylvania University during a debate hosted by Hey Kentucky! and LEX18.

Democrats have a serious shot at unseating Kentucky Gov. Matt Bevin (R) this November when the unpopular conservative firebrand stands for a second term.
