“If you don’t vote, somebody else votes for you,” says Carol Young of Paducah. "I don’t want anybody else voting for me.”

She's the widow of the late W.C. Young, a national labor and civil rights leader from Paducah. The W.C. Young Award, the highest honor the Western Kentucky AFL-CIO Area Council bestows, is named for him.

The easiest and safest way to vote in the June 23 primary is to go online to GOVOTEKY.com and apply for a mail-in absentee ballot. That deadline for applying--11:59 p.m. local time June 15--is creeping closer.

It takes two minutes to apply, maybe less. The directions couldn't be easier to follow. There's also an instructional video: KY State Board of Elections-Absentee request video information.

"Know someone without access to a computer or smart phone?" asks Liles Taylor, our state AFL-CIO legislative coordinator. "They can call their local county clerk’s office to request their ballot."

Click here to read an excellent guide to the primary from WFPL. Meanwhile, stay tuned for details about how the Nov. 3 general election will come off. That's TBD.

So come on, no more excuses. Click on GOVOTEKY.com and vote for your Kentucky State AFL-CIO-endorsed candidates.
